SAGRA-Manager

SAGRA-Manager is an enterprise digital ecosystem repurposed for the frenzy of local festivals (Sagre). Its purpose is to eradicate old paper pads and inefficient verbal communication, digitalizing and automating the entire lifecycle of an order: from the Cashier, to table assignment, up to the Kitchen screens and the Waiter’s tray.

Everything moves in real-time, without ever requiring an Internet connection.

“Resilient & Offline-First” Architecture

The beating heart of the system was engineered to dominate operational scenarios where an external network connection is non-existent or unstable (open fields, marquees):

  • Centralized LAN Server: A single server PC acts as the Single Source of Truth. All volunteers’ mobile devices connect to the local WiFi network without ever going out on the web. No critical data is ever saved on individual clients.
  • Event-Driven and WebSocket Engine: The core backend, developed in Node.js/Express with TypeScript, instantly and simultaneously propagates state changes (e.g., “Order #142 Paid”) with sub-second latencies to all connected nodes via WebSocket.
  • Strict State Machine: Under the hood, a relational database managed via Prisma ORM ensures workflow integrity by precisely tracking the 13 operational states of an order (To Pay -> Waiting -> Table Assigned -> In Preparation -> Ready -> Delivered).

System Modules

The infrastructure is fragmented into micro-interfaces designed around the volunteer’s role (Zero-Training Design):

  1. Cash & Finance Module: Touch interface for rapid receipt issuance, management of variants (“No Onion”, “Lactose Allergy”), and sophisticated split-payment (equal bill splitting or per single dish).
  2. Modular Printing System: Intelligent TCP/USB routing of tickets. Dynamic and sorted printing: the complete receipt remains at the cashier, the preparation tickets travel split towards the different kitchen stations (e.g., Grill, Fryer), suppressing useless logic like “Takeaway: False”.
  3. Kitchen Display System (KDS): Dedicated screens for each individual station. Cooks view only what is relevant to them based on the queues, with intuitive aggregated summaries.
  4. Dining Room Logistics: Dedicated modules for Associators (who quickly link the Order to the physical Table on a tablet or reader by scanning a QR Code) and for Waiters (who assemble the order picking up cafeteria-style and calling the customer).

SAGRA-Manager is the practical demonstration of how complex engineering patterns can elegantly solve logistical challenges tested in high-stress environments.
